Who and What is Empowering Educators?

Empowering Educators is devoted to helping teachers in PK-12 settings transform from being exhausted and running on fumes to reclaiming their joy and renewing their passion for the work that they love. We firmly believe that the most effective aspect of elementary and secondary education is the person that stands before the student day in and day out.  If the adult in the room is fatigued from the constant demands that are being placed on them, it will be impossible for them to show up for their students in the best way.  However, if the person that the children encounter on a daily basis is grounded in a clear sense of purpose and value driven boundaries, they  will benefit in ways that will be evident long after the school year is completed.

Our program is designed to do three main things:

-Clearly name and address the challenges that teachers face daily

-Create practical and realistic ways to address those challenges

-Construct a lifestyle that has room for personal interests outside of work

We offer a structured 8 week course that addresses topics such as: boundaries, values and determining what is in and what is out of the client’s control.  We deliver the course via weekly asynchronous instruction that is followed up by weekly virtual (live) sessions.  Through the 8 weeks, clients will be able to create a safe community in which to share their joys and struggles and find the support that they need.

Empowering Educators was started by Rachel Carr.  She taught in the New York City Department of Education for 34 years.  As a result, she knows, firsthand, the challenges that teachers face.  She also knows how easy it is for dedicated and devoted teachers to become cynical and jaded.  She began Empowering Educators as a way to help teachers reconnect with their own calling and battle the burnout they are experiencing.
